Harrison Leslie Haynes Dies In Colorado Care Center

Harrison Leslie Haynes, 71, of Akron, Colo., died Wednesday, July 6, 1994,at the Washington County Urgent Care Center in that city. He was a native of Keenes.

Mr. Haynes worked early as a fruit inspector for the United Fruit Company. In 1948 he went to work for the C.B.& Q. Railroad as a telegrapher. He moved to Akron, Colo., in 1957 and retired in 1985, from the Burlington Northern Railroad as an agent/operator.

Funeral rites were conducted Saturday morning from the Akron United Methodist Church, with Pastor James Miller officiating. Cremation followed with Yeamans & Gordon in charge of arrangements.

He was born at Keenes May 19, 1923, the son of Ben and Ida Catron Haynes. He grew up and attended school in Bluford. Mr. Haynes served in the south Pacific during World War II, enlisting in the Marine Corps in 1942.  In 1950 he was married to Dolores Ahlmeyer of Grant, Nebr., with three children born to their union.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters.

Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Dolores) Rebich, of Polaris, Mont.; two sons, Jim Haynes, of Greenley, Colo.; and Jerry Haynes, of Los Angeles, Calif.; two brothers, Rufus Haynes, of Keenes; and Ben Haynes, of Oak Park; five grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
