Mr. Alfred Hargrave, aged 64 years, died in Rinard, Feb. 9th, after a short, complicated and severe illness. He was in every respect a good and worthy man. The citizens of Rinard deeply regret the loss of so useful, energetic and benevolent a man. He leaves six children to mourn his loss. All except one have attained the ages of man and womanhood.

But one thing we have greatly to regret, that is the death of A.S.
HARGRAVE, who died on Wednesday, Feb. 9th, at half past 8 o'clock p.m.,
after an illness of about 12 days. He was attended by very skillful
physicians and waited on very attentively by his kind children and friends,
but it seemed that his time had come and there was no relief but death.
His acquaintance was very extensive in Wayne county and his loss, as a
citizen, will be greatly felt, and his loss, to his children, as a father
is being deeply felt, yet we hope that their loss is his gain.
He was buried at Johnsonville and the funeral was largely attended considering
the remarkably bad roads.

During his illness Alfred Hargraves sent for B.H. Cornwell,
of Indian Prairie, and requested him to settle his estate. He told
Cornwell that he had a will, but since his death the will is not found
as yet.

On Tuesday last the widow Hargraves, of this place, left for
Carmi, her former home. We understand that she sold her dowry right
in the estate of A.S. Hargraves, deceased, for the sum of $700,
cash.
