Nancy Elmira, daughter of J.T. and Rachael Simmons, was born in Wayne county, September 30th, 1877. Her life had been spent in the vicinity of her birth, where she was well respected.

In young womanhood she confessed faith in Christ and united with the Buckeye Christian church where she remained a member throughout her life.

She was united in marriage with Ira Lane November 13th, 1901.  Eight children were born to this union, two of whom died in infancy. The companion passed away November 29th, 1940.

For several months she had been in failing health and following a few days of acute illness, she died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roy Schurr, in Enterprise, on Monday evening, February 24th, 1947, age 69 years, 4 months and 24 days.

She is survived by three sons, Lewis, Ivan and Eldon, all of Johnsonville;  three daughters, Mrs. Leona Schurr, of Enterprise; Mrs. Pearl McCormick and Mrs. Evelyn Hall, both of Flora;  eight grandchildren; three brothers, John, of Athelstane, Wis.; Charles of Cisne and Asa of Long Beach, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Amanda Murphy, of Cisne; Mrs. Nora Grinestaff, of Louisville, and Mrs. Laura Rhodes, of Mt. Vernon.

Funeral services were conducted from the Cisne Christian church Wednesday afternoon by Rev. Joseph Shepherd. Interment was inn the Cisne cemetery.
