Ruby Arlene Shaw, 77, of Fairfield, passed away at 2:49 a.m. Jan. 31, 2009, at Way Fair Restorium in Fairfield.

She was born in Dahlgren on Feb. 14, 1931, a daughter of Fred and Mary (Calvin) Haile. She married Verschel Shaw on June 16, 1949.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City. Burial will follow at
Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Shaw is survived by her husband, Verschel Shaw of Fairfield; sons, Gary Shaw and wife Linda of McLeansboro, Kent Shaw and wife Sheila of Bluford, David and wife Tina of Soumak, Donald and wife Dolly of Opdyke and Roger and wife Michele of Bloomington; a daughter, Debbie Shoemaker and husband Bob of Mahomet; 19 grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six brothers, Art, Alfred, Harold, Ray, Don and Earl; and four sisters, Alcie Boyd, Lena Rainwater, Florence Estes and Wanda Parke.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Diana; two sisters; and one brother.
