_____

The news of the sudden and unexpected passing of Marion (Doc) Weir on Tuesday evening, December 8th, about 9:15, cast a gloom of sadness over Mill Shoals community and was a distinct shock to his friends and acquaintances, that day being uptown and about his work.

Mr. Weir or "Doc," as he was known, was one of the best known men in our county.   His loyalty to his friends was always beyond question.  His steadfast stand on the right side of any and all questions was assured without inquiry.  He was active in local affairs and was a loyal supporter of his political party,  voting the Democratic ticket for 55 years.  He will be missed and long remembered not only by his immediate family and many other relatives but by a host of friends; who respected and loved him.

Marion Weir, son of Marion and Manavery Weir, was born August 3. 1860, and passed away Tuesday evening, December 8, 1936, at the age of 76 years. He leaves to mourn their loss a devoted wife, three sons, one daughter, four grandchildren, two nieces, one nephew, and a host of friends.

Doc spent his entire life in Illinois.

He was a devoted husband, a kind father and a friend to all he could be a service to.

Funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church Saturday morning by Rev. Baker, of Ellery, assisted by Rev. D. W. Hetzell of Mill Shoals.  The floral offerings were carried by Misses Genelle Leathers, Mary Catherine Leathers, Pauline McCullough and  Juanita Gammon.  The pallbearers  were Noel McCullough, Joe Vaughan, Sam Funkhouser, D. L. Newby, H. G. French and R. E. Gardner.  E. A. Nale was in charge of funeral arrangements.
