Wayne Native Dies At Good Sam

Mrs. Sarah (Sadie) Lucinda McNeill Smith, 94, formerly of Waltonville, died at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Apr. 6, 1995, at Good Sam Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.

She was a Wayne County native.

Mrs. Smith was a retired teacher, having taught for over 40 years before retiring. She was a past president of the Jefferson County Teachers Association.

She was a cousin of Mrs. Henrietta Holstein, of Fairfield.

Funeral rites were conducted Sunday from the Fry & Frick Funeral Home at Waltonville with burial in Victory Cemetery northwest of Fairfield. Rev. Martha Horrell officiated.

She was born in Wayne County Dec. 4, 1900, the daughter of Alva and Carrie E. Scott McNeill. On May 26, 1921, at Cisne, She was married to Benjamin Edward Smith. He died July 14, 1966.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the Waltonville United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Illinois Sigma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa.

Surviving are two foster sons, Ernest Bozarth, of Murphysboro; and Don Bozarth, of Madisonville, Ky.; a sister, Mrs. Alberta Smith, of McLeansboro; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
