DELLA  FINLEY

On Thursday of last week Miss Della Finley died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Homer Redd, on West Douglas street in this city after a prolonged illness.

Miss Finley was a devoted daughter, sister and friend, and so long as her health permitted, there was no service she would not render to her loved ones and her friends. Her interest in the work of her church was marked, and the weather, nor even slight illness, ever prevented her from attending to her church and Sunday School duties. Her patience during her illness was marked, as was her appreciation of all that was done for her comfort.

Funeral services were held at the Mt. Olivet church on last Saturday, conducted by the pastor, Rev. C. J. Streubing, assisted by Rev. W. E. Courtright. The burial was at the Bovee cemetery.

Relatives from a distance who were here to attend the services were Calvin C. Finley, a brother, of Wichita, Kan., and Mrs. Roy M. Brown, a sister, of Silver Lake, Kan.

The following obituary was read at the funeral service:

Della was born February 1, 1870 at the old homestead on the Fairfield-Mt. Vernon road, where she spent almost her entire life in unselfish devotion to the family of which she was a member.

Early in life she accepted the Savior, embracing the religion of her father and mother and grew up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. As a life long member of Mt. Olivet M. E. Church she was faithful, always at worship service and Sunday School attentive and helpful. For twenty years in succession she was the faithful teacher of the primary class, the young folks and to a wide circle of friends and acquaintances her life was a blessing.

Through her late sickness and suffering she was patient and express clearly her readiness to go and sang her favorite hymn It is Well With My Soul.
