Mrs. Amanda Belangee Meeks, widow of Benjamin Hardin Meeks, passed away Wednesday, February 5th at the home of her son Cloyd Meeks, five miles south of Fairfield. She had not been well for some time.
Funeral services were conducted at the Pleasant Grove church at two o'clock Friday afternoon by Elder W. H. Gloyd, assisted by Elder N. T. Courson. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Amanda, daughter of Charles and Sarah Hart Belangee, was born August 4th. 1865, in Shelby County, Indiana, and died February 5th, 1941 at the age of 75 years 6 months and 1 day.
January 2nd, 1884 she was united in marriage to Benjamin Hardin Meeks at Barnhill. To this union was born five sons and three daughters.
She was converted at a very early age and united with the Barnhill Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to Pleasant Grove . Sometime later she moved her membership to the Fairfield Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until death.
She leaves to mourn her passing one brother, Jack Belangee, of Mill Shoals. four sons. Otto. of Barnhill, John D, of Davis, California, ,Cloyd, of Fairfield. with whom she made her home since 1932, and Charles, of Muncie. Indiana: three daughters. Mrs. Margaret Cravens and Mrs. Jennie Eckleberry, of Fairfield and Mrs. Anthum Chamberlain, of Farmington. Missouri. One son, Elvis N. passed away tn 1906.
