Martha Elizabeth Campbell, of Albion, daughter of Arthur and Mary Jane Bowman, was born Dec. 11, 1872, and departed this life May 20, 1937, following an illness of only a few minutes duration. Deceased grew to womanhood near Burnt Prairie and lived most of her life in Wayne and Edwards counties.
She was united in marriage to John Campbell September 7, 1890 and to this union eleven children were born, one of whom died in infancy. Her husband preceded her in death Nov. 6, 1936.
Surviving are the following children: Arthur and Edwin of Anderson, Ind.; Mrs. James Easton of Burnt Prairie; Mrs. Joe Puckett of Fairfield; James Campbell of Golden Gate; Loren, Sherman, Paul. John and Elmer, all of Albion. She also leaves one brother, Galloway Bowman; one half-brother, Levi Walters of Fairfield. One brother preceded her in death. She also leaves to mourn, 44 grandchildren and a host of friends.
Mrs. Campbell accepted Christ early life and became a member of the Antioch Baptist church. Her sunny disposition and cheerful smile will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
