Paul Musgrave was born in Wayne county, Illinois near Barnhill, Dec. 18, 1867. He was son of W. C. and Nancy Jane Musgrave and was one of a large family of boys and girls born in this pioneer home.
While a very young man he was united in marriage to Miss Emma E. Felix and four children were born to them, Junie Gertrude died in infancy. Those surviving are Mrs. Pearl Pollard, Carmi; Mrs. Myrtle Griffin, Burnt Prairie; and Mrs. Rosa Wilson, Quinter, Kansas. The wife and mother passed away Aug. 10, 1895. On Sept. 9, 18988, he was married to Miss Francis May Simpson, who survives him. To this union nine children were born; Walter, of Fairfield; Mrs. Louella Thackery and Mrs. Lois Toombs, of Mill Shoals; Mrs. Iva Phillips, Burnt Prairie; Mrs. Cora Gooch, Springerton; and Mrs. Maude Phillips, Anna; who survive. Ola Catherin, Belle Irene and an infant son died in early childhood.
Mr. Musgrave was a substantial and influential farmer; In 1919 he sold his Wayne County farm and purchased the Old Maricle homestead in White county, near West Antioch Church where he has since resided. He was converted at the age of 17 yet never affiliated with any church organization.
He had been in failing health for many months suffering with a severe heart ailment. While visiting his nephew at the Ford Garage in Fairfield some days ago he accidentally fell ten steps into the basement, causing concussion of the brain, paralysis and pneumonia.
Everything that loving hands and doctors could do for him was futile and death came suddenly and peacefully to reieve his suffering Saturday, March 7, 1942.
He was a good husband, father, and friend.
Besides the heartbroken companion and immediate family he leaves forty-six grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Lucinda Vaughn and Mrs. Rosa Vaughn of near Fairfield; one Brother, Wyatt of Fairfield; many nephews and nieces and a host of friends.
