Mrs. Tom Vaughan Dies At Kankakee

Mrs. Ola M Vaughan, 84, wife of late Tom Vaughanof Burnt Prairie township, died Friday in Kankakee hospitial, where she had been a patient since Dec. 28.  She had been in declining health, suffering from a maligmancy,  her family said.

Husband Was A Blacksmith

Mrs. Vaughan has made her home in Kankaee, with her daughter, Karmia, wife of Lyle Harshbarger, ever since the death of her husband in 1956, who for many years operated a blacksmith shop in Fairfield on the site of the present Kieser Auto Parts store.

Funral services were at 10 a.m. Monday (today) at the First Baptist Church with Rev. David Dean officiating.  Burial was in Pleasant Grove cemetery.

Born In Fairfield
She was born on July 10, 1886, the daughter of Frank and Mattie (Atteberry) Wright.  She married Mr. Vaughn on Dec. 24, 1904, in her parents home.

She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Lyle Harshbarger and Mrs. Virginia Moore, both of Kankakee, and Mrs. Douglas (Avabelle) Reed, of Springfield, three grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Miles (Lulu) Simpson, and Elsie Carter, both of Fairfield, and Hattie Vaughan, of Worth, Ill.

Preceding her death besides her husband were two sons, Hylman and Harold, one daughter, Mary Kathleen; one sister, Mrs. Eugene (Anna) Hannaford, of Fairfield; and three brothers, Orion, Harry and Robbley Wright.

Among those attending the funeral from out-of-town were Charles Kaufman, of Chicago; Marvin Lucas, of chicago; Mrs. virginia Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Harshbarger, and  Mr. and Mrs. Michael Harshbarger, of Kankakee; Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Reed and daughter, Cheryl, of Springfield, Mrs. Hattie Vaughan and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wright.
