Bank Had Been Ailing

--------

This entire section of the county was shocked Wednesday evening when James R. Meyer. cashier of the Fairfield National bank. was stricken suddenly at his horne in northwest Fairfield. Mr. Meyer had been troubled for some time with a heart alirnent, and when stricken, shortly after 6 o'clock Wednesday evening, was preparing his motor car for a trip next morning to St. Louis to consult physicians about his health.  Death followed the heart stroke almost immediately.

Few men ever lived in this or any other community whose ways of life were quiet and restrained and yet who had as many tried and true friendships as this man had. Most  men said of him after his death he was friendly, tactful and a "squareshooter;" his pastor said he was one of the "finest Christian gentlemen he had. known." Which adds up to the statements made first hi this paragraph.
