Sallie Murphy was born in Brackeridge Co., Ky., July 30, 1828.  She moved to Wayne County, Illl with her parens Jeremiah and Ann Murphy when but seven years old and has been a resident of same until death which occurred November 23, 1911.  Aged 83 years 8 months and 23 days.  She was united in marrage to John W. Simpson March 21, 1846.  To this union 8 children were born, one daughter and seven sons.  Husband, daughter, and 5 sons have preceded to the better world, leaving to mourn her departure; two sons, Joseph H. of Arkansas and Geo. Simpson, who was with her at the time of her death; 4 aged sisters, 45 grand children, 48 greatgrand children, and 4 great great grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends.  She was a faithrul wife and mother and a good neighbor and was appreciated by all who knew her.  The funeral was held at the home Friday, Nov., 24, at 11 a.m. by Rev. A. J. Goale, after which the remained were laid to rest in the Simpson Cemetery by the side of her husband and to those to await (can not read next word) morning.
