Mrs. Hattie Simpson, 85, died at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday, Apr. 24, 1996, at Way-Fair Restorium.

Mrs. Simpson, the widow of Vernal Simpson, had been a resident at Way-Fair for over 12 years. She had been in declining health.

Mrs. Simpson taught school for a time and later was a homemaker.

Funeral rites will be from Nale's Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Friday, with Bro. Carroll Kakac officiating.  Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Visitation at Nale's will be conducted from 9 to 11 Friday morning.

She was born south of Burnt Prairie Feb. 1, 1911, the daughter of Charles Richard and Amanda Victoria Pollard Smith.  She was married to Vernal Simpson. He passed away Oct. 2, 1983.  Mrs. Simpson was a member of the Fairfield First Christian Church.

Surviving are one son, Dr. Gary Simpson, of Placitas, New Mex.; and two grandchildren, Cassie and Courtney Simpson.
