Mrs. Mamie D. Elmore, 90, of Newton, died at 7:35 p.m. Tuesday, Apr. 16, 1996, at Newton Rest Haven Nursing Home.

She was the mother of Loren Elmore, of Johnsonville.

Mrs. Elmore was a homemaker

Funeral rites will be at 2 p.m. Friday from the Latona Church of Christ, with burial in Trexler Cemetery in rural Jasper County.

She was born in Jasper County Dec. 1. 1906, the daughter of Ross and Gertrude Workman Clagg.  On Nov. 22, 1922, she was married to Homer Russell Elmore. He passed away Dec.  15, 1984. Also preceding her in death were her parents, one daughter, two grandsons and two brothers.

She was a member of the Latona Church of Christ.

Memorials may be made to the Heart Fund.

Surviving are eight sons, Merle Elmore, of Newton; Loren Elmore, of Johnsonville; Alvin Elmore, of Dieterich; Sheldon Elmore, Dean Elmore, Vonley Elmore and Roscoe Elmore, all of Wheeler; two daughters, Mrs. Ilene Corso, of Newton; and Mrs. Beverly Flinn, of Milton, Fla.; 25 grandchildren; 31 great- grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Willard Clagg, of Alma, Mich.; and Howard Clagg, of Apple Valley, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. Hazel West, of Michigan; and Mrs. Helen English, of Breckenridge, Mich.
