Mill Shoals Man Found Dead

William L. Winter, 55, a Mill Shoals resident, was pronounced dead at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, 1983, at the Behimer & Kissner Grain Elevator in Mill Shoals.

Mr. Winter, who was under medication for a heart problem, was found lying dead in a pit at the elevator by his boss, Richard Smith. Smith had gone to help Winter close the elevator for the night, the Press was told. Mr. Winter suffered a heart attack 13 years ago, the family said.

Funeral services will be held, at 1 p.m. Friday at the Elledge Funeral Home in Mill Shoals with Bro. Charles Mossburger officiating. Burial will follow in Shrewsbury Cemetery at Mill Shoals.      Visitation for family and friends will be conducted after 2 p.m. Thursday (today) at the funeral home in Mill Shoals.

Mr. Winter was born in Springerton Jan. 4, 1928, the son of Louie and Minnie (Roland) Winter. He attended Wildcat School in that area.  He married the former Mary Mossburger in Sims Apr. 3, 1948.

Mr. Winter served in the Korean War and was a member of the Springerton American Legion.  He was employed for 30 years at the grain elevator, working first for the French family, who later sold the elevator to Behimer & Kissner.

Mr. Winter is survived by his wife Mary Winter, of Mill Shoals; two sons, Richard Keith and William Bradley Winter, both of Fairfield; three brothers, Lawrence and Albert Winter, of Springerton; and Arthur Winter, of Enfield; two sisters, Mrs Fred "Fritz" (Hilda) Wise and Mrs. Leroy (Lydia) Sams, both of Fairfield; and two grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, Oscar and Ernest, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Marsh.
