A full-time Jehovah Witness missionary, Kenneth G. Matheson, 77, of Rt. 2, was pronounced dead-on-arrival at the emergency room of Fairfield Memorial Hospital at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, 1983.
Mr. Matheson was recently discharged from the hospital and had been a patient many times during the past two months suffering from a heart condition. the family said. He was stricken at his home and taken to the hospital by ambulance.
He took early retirement 20 years ago from the Union Pacific Railroad to become a full-time missionary in Southern Illinois. He lived in Cairo before moving to the Fairfield area.
Mr. Matheson's body will be cremated. A memorial funeral service will be conducted at a later date. The Nale's Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
He was born in the state of Wyoming June 22, 1906, the son of Ed and Nellie Mae (Boison) Matheson. He was never married.
Survivors include two nephews, Edward and Vernon Skelton, both of Fairfield; and other nephews in California.
Mr. Matheson was preceded in death by three brothers, two Sisters and his parents.
