William Edgar Lowery, 76, of Fairfield, formerly of Sims, died at 4:30 a.m.Tuesday, Apr. 26, 1983, at the Way-Fair Restorium.  Mr. Lowery was a long-time resident of the nursing home.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Richardson Funeral Home, of Wayne City.  The Rev. Oakley Miller officiated with burial in the Lowery Cemetery near Orchardville.

Mr. Lowery was born in Bluford May 19, 1906, the son of William and Alma (Harvey) Lowery.  He was married to the former Myrtle King Nov. 22, 1924. She preceded him in death Jan. 18, 1980.   Mr. Lowery was a retired janitor who was employed at the Sims Grade School.

Survivors include one son, Wendell Lowery, of Grayville; four daughters,Mrs. Juanita Cook, Mrs. Helen Robertson and Mrs. Mary Cooley, all of Longport; and Mrs. Eleanor Yeadon, of Rantoul; 34 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and one son.
