Ira "Babe" Simmons, 80, of Wellsville, Mo., a former long time Cisne resident, died at 2:00 a.m. Sunday Apr. 24, 1983, at the Gamma Road Nursing Home, at Wellsville, Mo. Mr. Simmons had entered the nursing home in March of this year. He and his wife, Wanda, had moved to Wellsville in October of 1982 to be nearer their daughter.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hosselton Funeral Home, of Cisne, with Bro Jack Smith officiating. Burial will be in Cisne Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 7-9 p.m. Monday (tonight) at the funeral home in Cisne.
Mr. Simmons was born at Cisne Apr. 12, 1903, the son of Charles Franklin andElizabeth (Rutger) Simmons. He attended the Cisne Grade School. He was married to the former Wanda Clay, a Cisne girl, in Princeton, Ind., Oct. 30, 1922. Mr. Simmons was employed for many years as a truck driver in Cisne and delivered dry goods. He was last employed as a school bus driver for the Cisne schools. He was a member of the Cisne Christian Church and the Flora Elks. Mr. Simmons was a past member of the Cisne Rotarians.
He is survived by his wife Wanda Simmons, of Wellsville, Mo.; one daughter,Mrs. Don (June) Lemasters, of Wellsville, Mo.: two sons, C. D Simmons, of Salem,Ind.; and Frank Simmons, of Joliet; one sister, Mrs Marie Easton, of Fairfield; one brother, Ed Simmons, of Cisne; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;and two great-great-grandchildren.
