Mrs. Edna M. Bailey, 80 formerly of Fairfield, the wife of the late Clarence V. Bailey, died at 8:45 p.m. Thursday, Apr. 21, 1983, at the Regina Pacis Nursing Home, at Evansville, Ind. For several years, Mrs. Bailey did special duty nursing as a licensed practical nurse at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, at the Nale's Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Russell officiating. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery southeast of Goldengate.
Mrs. Bailey was born in Wayne County May 3, 1902, the daughter of Frank P. and Ellen (Wagner) Leach. She was married to Clarence V. Bailey Aug. 13, 1922. He preceded her in death June 14, 1968. Mrs. Bailey was a member of the Ellen Moore United Methodist Church. She had no children of her own, but was interested in the welfare of youth. She helped to support many young people who were preparing to do Christian service. She and her husband moved to Goldengate to help care for her mother after the death of her father.
Mrs. Bailey is survived by two sisters, Mrs Etta Over, of Albion; and Mrs. Edith Williams of Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews.
