Mrs. Ella M. Smith, 103, of Springerton, died at 12:42 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 1994, at Hamilton Memorial Nursing Home in McLeansboro.  A native of Indiana, she had lived in the Mill Shoals area before settlingin Springerton.

Funeral rites were conducted Sunday from the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, with Rev. Robert Sefried officiating.  Burial was in Old Springerton Cemetery.

Surviving are seven sons, Martin D. Smith, of San Diego, Calif.; Cornelius Smith, of Rupert. Idaho; Ralph Smith, of Filer, Idaho; Roy Smith, of Springerton; Clinton Smith, of Mariton, N.J.; Ian Smith, of Waukegan; and Clyde Smith, of House Springs, Mo.; four daughters, Eulah Leonard, of Filer, Idaho; Esther Montgomery, of Albion, Idaho; Martha Dean Kienzle, of Rupert, Idaho; and Dorotha Tolley, of McLeansboro; 27 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a brother. Edward Goffinett; of Kingman, Ariz.; and two sisters, Anna Shehorn, of Medford, Ore.; and Lucy Shelton, of Mt. Vernon.
