Major J. H. Sutherland, 85, pastor of the First Presbyterian church here some 15 years ago, died March 28th in a hospital at Los Angeles, Calif., according to word received by his former church members here  He had been ill for some time.

Funeral and burial will be in Alexandria, Va.

Major Sutherland served as an army chaplain in both world wars and was a wide traveler, having circled the globe three times.  He had many friends here.
