He had operated the Ebel Transfer Company, a family business at Algonquin, Ill., before moving in 1947 to Pickerel, Wis., where he owned and operated Chuck's Fishing Camp for 25 years. The couple retired in 1971 and moved to Lily, Wis., later moving to Antigo in 1993.
His wife, the former Audrey Rossman, died Nov. 22, 1982. One brother and his parents also preceded him in death.
Funeral rites were held Wednesday at Bradley Funeral Home, with burial in the Lily, Wis., cemetery.
Mr. Ebel was a native of Algonquin, Ill., born there Nov. 22, 1913, the son of Henry and Hazel Rahn Ebel. He attended the University of Illinois. He was a member of the Antigo Elks Lodge and served as treasurer of the town of Langlade for 12 years.
Surviving are one sister, Gladys Caveny, of Fairfield; two brothers, Richard, of Algonquin and Wesley, of Seattle, Wash.; a sister-in-law and nieces and nephews.
