A former Airtex employee. Mrs Phyllis Lee Shelton, 65, of Fairfield, died 6 a.m. Monday (today), Aug. 26, 1985, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. Mrs. Shelton entered the hospital two months ago for treatment of emphysema and pneumonia.
She was the widow of Amos Shelton, who died this past May.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home, with Bro. Carroll Kakac officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral home.
Mrs. Shelton was born in Jefferson County, Aug. 12, 1920, the daughter of Abe and Minnie Potter Tice. She was raised in Fairfield and attended FCHS. On July 26, 1942 in San Luis Obispo Calif., she married Amos Shelton. Mr. Shelton died May 22, 1985.
Mrs. Shelton was employed with Airtex for 25 years prior to retiring from the fuel pump department June 17, 1983. She was a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lynn Warren, of Fairfield, and Mrs. James (Sheila) Hale, of Mt. Vernon; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother and her parents.
