A Fairfield resident, John Legg, 62, died at 11:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 1985, at the V. A. Hospital in Marion, where he was a patient for two weeks.  Mr. Legg, a bachelor, was the half-brother of James McGowan, of Fairfield.

Graveside Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Maple Hill Cemetery with Rev. Melvin Farmer officiating.

Mr . Legg was born Apr. 23, 1923, in Illinois to Bert and Bessie Simms Legg.  He was a U. S. Army veteran, serving, in World War II.  Mr. Legg did odd jobs for Fairfield area residents.

Survivors include one half-brother James McGowan, of Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a half-brother.
