Mrs. Curtis (Kathleen "Kate") Borton 65, of Xenia a former rural Orchardville resident, died at 10:17 p.m. Thursday Aug. 8, 1985, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Schmidt Funeral Home East Peoria, with Rev. Gaylord Buss officiating. Burial followed in Lutheran Cemetery.

Mrs. Borton was born in Kirkwood, Oct. 1, 1919, the daughter of Joseph E.
and Mattie P. Clark Smith.  She was married in Peoria to Curtis L. Borton, Sr., Mar. 27, 1937.

Survivors include her husband, Curtis Borton, Sr., of Xenia; two daughters, Mrs. Nancy Lander, of Brimfield; Mrs. Larry (Kitty) Widdows, of East Peoria; one brother, William Smith, of Peoria; six sisters, Verna Trapper and Bonnie Hagey, both of East Peoria; Mary Woodson, of Choctaw, Okla.; Ruby Wilson, of Bowling Green, Ky.; Jeah Cornwall, of Creve Coeur; and Florence Pate, of Peoria; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
