Charles Vaugan, 67, Dies

Charles Vaugan, 67, of Fairfield, an electician at Airtex many years, died  at 4:05 p.m. Thursday, Dec 2, 1982,  at the Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Vaughan had been a hospital patient for four weeks.

Funeral services were held at  2 p.m. Saturday at the Nales Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Dempeer officiating.  Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Vaughan was born in Jackson, Miss., Apr 25, 1915, the son of Leonard and Minnie (Masterson) Vaughan.

He was married to the former Gladys Merritt, July 3, 1934, in Fairfield.

Operated Service Station

Mr. Vaughan was employed as electrician at Airtex from 1937 until 1970.  He also operated the DX station for several years in  Goldengate.

The Vaughans moved to Scottsdale, Ariz., where he was employed at the Scottsdale Baptist Hospital for  a year.  He worked as a gardener at the Mesa Community College, Mesa, Ariz.,  from 1971 until 1977 when he retired.

He was a member of Fairfield First Baptist Church and was noted for his rose gardening.

The Survivors

Survivors include his wife, Gladys, of Fairfield; one sone Dennis Vaughan, of Decatur; three sisters, Mrs. William (Vetis) Davis, of Central, Utah; Mrs. Don (Betty) Colver of Albion, and Mrs. Bernard (Mary) Peddicord, of Cisne; one brother, Delbert Vaughan, of Tempe, Ariz.; one graanddaughtter and three step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jack, who died in 1963, two infant sons, and four brothers.
