A former Fairfield resident, Rollin (Doc) Owen, 69, of Brownsville, Texas died early Thursday, Aug. 1, 1985, at Brownsville of cancer.

He was a brother of the late Dale Owen, Fairfield police officer.  Mr. Owen and his wife, Helen, moved from Fairfield many years ago, but have several cousins in the area. He was currently employed as an insurance agent.

Memorial funeral services were conducted Sunday in Brownsville, with, burial following cremation.

Mr. Owen was born in Wayne County in 1912, the son of the late William and Minnie Galiher Owen. He graduated from FCHS in 1934 and was an outstanding football player.

Survivors include his wife, Helen, of Brownsville, Tex.; a son and three daughters; and several grandchildren.
