Charles Vernis Ellis Dies; Was Driver; Grader Operator
Charles Vernis Ellis, 78, of Enfield, died at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday,
May 1, 1996, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. Mr. Ellis was
a retired truck driver and road grader operator.
Funeral rites will be at 1 p.m. Saturday from the Springerton Christian
Church, with Bro. Ron Lamp and Bro. Charles Mossberger officiating. Interment
will be in Kitty Sweetin Cemetery, Enfield. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m.
Friday at the Elledge Funeral Home in Enfield and at the church from 12
noon tothe funeral hour.
He was born at Enfield Mar. 5, 1918, the son of Hugh and Rhoda Hucker Ellis. He was married to Velma Gwaltney. Mr. Ellis was a member of the Springerton Christian Church. Memorials may be made to that church.
Surviving are his wife, Velma, of Enfield; two sons, Vereal Ellis, of Yuma, Ariz.; and Glendall Ellis, of Enfield; two daughters, Shirley Renshaw, of Enfield; and Sharon Ralph, of Owensboro, Ky.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a mother-in-law, Sarah Terrell of Carmi.
