Word has been received of the death of Edwin Dickens, 72, of Pontiac, who died in his sleep Monday night.

Mr. Dickens is the husband of Mildred Wilson Dickens, who is the daughter of the late Jim and Prinnie Cunningham Wilson, formerly of Fairfield.

Mr. and Mrs. Dickens and Mr. and Mrs. Hayward Gregory, of Lawrenceville, had just visited over this past weekend with their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Mathes, of Fairfield. Mr.Dickens' death was unexpected, but he had suffered from a heart condition in the past, the family said.

He was a retired engineer for the railroad.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Harris Funeral Home at Pontiac. Burial will be in the O'Dell Cemetery at O'Dell.
