Mrs. Goldie Allen, 66, of 813 Walker St., the wife of Earl Allen, died at 1:41 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, 1983, at the Welborn Baptist Hospital at Evansville, Ind. Mrs. Allen had been a patient in the hospital for 23 days prior to her death. She recently learned that she was suffering from cancer and was ill a short time, the family said.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday (today) at the Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Melvin Chambliss officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Allen was born south of Wayne City in Wayne County Aug. 22, 1916, the daughter of Crit and Lucy (Hunt) McCullough. She attended school in Wayne City. She was married to Earl Allen in Mt. Vernon July 3, 1953. The Allens lived in Fairfield since their marriage. Mrs. Allen was employed for 27 years at Airtex as a drill press operator. She retired in 1972 to take care of a relative. Her sister, Mrs. Bessie Hale, died two weeks ago.
Survivors include her husband, Earl Allen, of Fairfield; one son, Samuel White, of Keenes; one brother, Samuel McCullough, of Wayne City, one sister, Mrs. James (Ruth) Porter, of Fairfield four grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.
