Fillmore F. Reid, 82, well-known retired Cisne farmer, died at 5:50 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 1983, at St. Mary's Hospital at Centralia. Mr. Reid had recently learned that he had cancer and had been in Fairfield Memorial Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital and finally St. Mary's Hospital since Dec. 6, the family said.
Funeral services are pending at the Hasselton Funeral Home, of Cisne.
Mr. Reid was born on the family farm northeast of Cisne July 1, 1900, the son of Richard and Zora (Garrison) Reid. The Reids were a pioneer family from Edwards County. Mr. Reid was the second youngest of 12 children. He attended school at both the Jordan and South Gunion Schools and lived in the Cisne area all of his life.
Mr. Reid was married to the former Edna Daughenbaugh Sept. 27, 1923, at Mt. Vernon. The Reids were married for 59 years. Mr. Reid farmed until his retirement six years ago, forced by a broken hip. Mrs. Reid was a school teacher for 39 years and taught at the Gunion and Jasper Schools at the end of her teaching career. Mr. Reid worked as an assistant buyer and driver for Joy Reed, a cattle buyer for many years.
He was a member of the Gunion Christian Church and served as a deacon for several years. Mr. Reid also belonged to the Flora Eagles.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Reid, of Cisne; one son, George Kenneth Reid, of Longview, Tex.; three grandchildren whom the Reids helped raise, Randolph Lee Reid, Linda Christine Reid and Richard Fillmore Reid; one sister, Mrs. Mary Miller, of Cisne; and numerous nephews and nieces
