Mrs. Opel Farris, 84, died at her home, 609 West Douglas, here at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Apr. 30, 1996. She died in her sleep.

Graveside services were held at 9 a.m. Thursday (today) at Laird Cemetery near Enterprise, with Bro. Troy Shook officiating. The Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.  Visitation was conducted at the Johnson Chapel Wednesday evening.

She was born in Wayne County Jan. 29, 1912, the daughter of William and Nellie Wilkins Atteberry.

In 1930, she was married to Ira Farris. He passed away Mar. 22, 1993.  Also preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Doris) Grandstaff, of Geff: and Mrs. Fred (Marie) Smith, of Fairfield; and two granddaughters, Dena Griswold, of Fairfield; and Lori Smith, of Lebanon.
