Olan King, 76, a former resident of Carmi and brother of Mrs. Velma Stewart, of Burnt Prairie, died at 8:45 a.m. Saturday at the Colonial Nursing Home inMaryville.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Lahey-Sedlack Funeral Home in Madison, with Rev John Walter officiating. Burial was in St. John Cemetery.
He was born in Burnt Prairie and lived in Carmi before moving to Madison 48years ago. He was employed as a switch man for 16 years at American Steel Foundriesprior to his retirement in 1970. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, DelRay Rebekah Lodge 786, of Madison Tri-City Odd Fellows 1031, Masonic Triple Lodge 835, and the Sword ofBunker Hill, Bell-Claire Order 85
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Luella) Bevill, of Madison; three brothers, Donald, Luther, and Claude King, all of Carmi; three sisters, Mrs. Ellen Renshaw and Mrs. Doris Sanders, both of Carmi, and Mrs. Velma Stewart,of Burnt Prairie; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Jessie Jones.
