RICHARD GREGG, 41, DIES

Richard Gregg, 41, of Santa Ana, Calif., formerly of Fairfield, the grandson of John and Gertrude Jones, of Sims, died unexpectedly Friday night,  Feb. 17, 1984, while enroute to a Santa Ana hospital.   Mr. Gregg was stricken with an apparent heart attack.  He had been in good health and was not being treated for a heart condition, the Press was told.

Services Tuesday

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Fairhaven Funeral Home in Santa Ana, Calif., with burial to follow there. Visitation will be conducted from 4-9 p.m. Monday (tonight) at the funeral home in Santa Ana.  

Mr. Gregg was born in Fairfield Feb. 28, 1943 (error-actually 1942), the son of Edgar and Fern (Jones) Gregg.  Mr. Gregg and his family moved to Carbondale in 1956 following the death of his father.  He was employed in the market division of Shell Oil Company.

The Survivors

Surviving are his wife, Carol Gregg, of  Santa Ana , Calif; his mother, Mrs. Fern Gregg of Carbondale, one son Kevin of Santa Ana; two daughters, Kathy and Kerri Gregg of Santa Ana, Calif; his maternal grandparents, John and Gertrude Jones, of Sims;  one brother, Ronald Gregg, of Scottsdale, Ariz; a sister, Mrs. Linda Adams of St. Charles, Mo.; two uncles, Ray Gregg and Ivan Jones of Fairfield; and three aunts, Mrs. Hazel Dawson and Mrs. Mary Hilliard, both of Fairfield; and Mrs. Doris Marshel, of Johnsonville.
 
Mr. Ivan Jones will be attending the funeral from Fairfield.
