Arthur Hoyt Burroughs was the son of Hays and Nancy (Baker) Burroughs.

Arthur Hoyt Burroughs was born Nov. 8, 1859 in Wayne County, Ill. and died October 6, 1913, aged 53 years, ten months and 28 days. He married Margaret E. Bogle, July 15, 1886. To this union were born four children, three sons and one daughter. The oldest child Roy, died when he was four years of age. The deceased leaves a loving wife, two sons, Hubert S. and Evert B. and his daughter Leta A., an aged mother, and three brothers and many relatives and friends to mourn his loss. He was converted to Christ and united with the Latter Day Saints church in his 19th year. He was an honored member in the church at this place having served as priest, branch and district clerk, Sunday School superintendent and chorister where we will all miss him. He was buried Tuesday evening in the Harrell cemetery, following a funeral service by Elder I. A. Morris.
