Robert M. (Bob) Wood, 63, of 704 North First, died at 1:45 a.m.
Thursday (today), at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney. He
had undergone lung surgery at the hospital Monday. His death was attributed
to heart failure.
Mr. Wood and his wife, the former Theresa O'Leary, had
returned to Fairfield about 10 years ago to make their home. He had retired
from Mission Mfg. Company, an oil firm, a little over a year ago, after
29 years with the company. Earlier he had worked for Oil Well Supply.
He had worked in Centralia, Mt. Carmel and Oklahoma City at times and the
Woods had resided in those cities, as well as Fairfield and Wayne City
The body has been removed to Nale's Funeral Home here, with funeral plans not completed at press hour.
Mr. Wood was born at Wayne City Oct. 16, 1919, the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Connie Wood, of Wayne City. He graduated from a three
year high school at Wayne City and completed his fourth and final year
of high school at Mt. Vernon.
On May 6, 1939, he was married to Theresa O'Leary, daughter
of Mrs. Maggie O'Leary and the late Joe O'Leary. They had no children.
Mr. Wood was an active member of St. Edward Catholic church and a member
of the Fairfield Elks Lodge.
His widow, Theresa, survives along with a nephew, Robert Neil Young, Fairfield; and a niece, Sheila Young Blackwell, of South America.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, the late Genevieve Young.
