Audrey Vaughn, 64, Dies
Mrs. Audrey Vaughn, 64, a long-time Fairfield resident, died at 11:40 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Vaughn had been admitted to the hospital five days prior to her death, suffering from emphysema. She had been a resident of Way-Fair since July and had been in ill health for six years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from N@les' Funeral Home in Fairfield with Rev. Garold T. Hart officiating. Burial will be in Koontz Cemetery in Fairfield. Visitation will be conducted from 5-8 p.m. Thursday (tonight) at the funeral home.
She was born in Mississippi County, Ark., Feb. 8, 1918, the daughter of Edgar and Rosa (Clevenger) Buchanan. The Buchanans moved to Wayne County and settled near the Skillet Fork River.
She was married to Elmer Vaughn in Perryville, Mo., Nov. 6, 1942. He preceded her in death Aug. 20, 1966.
Mrs. Vaughn was employed in domestic service and worked for several years at Nales' Funeral Home before she became ill.
She was a member of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Joyce Vaughan, of Fairfield; one brother Berkley Buchanan, of Nevada; one sister, Mrs. Bernice Kimbro, of Ridgeway; and one granddaughter, Barbara McCormick, of Evansville, Ind.
