Mrs. Lula Ada Potter, 91, a longtime resident of the New Hope community, the mother of Gerald Potter, of Fairfield, died at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1982, at the Meadowood Nursing Home at Grayville. Mrs. Potter had been a resident at the nursing home for the past 2 1/2years. Death was due to infirmities of age, the Press was told.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday (today) at the Nale's Funeral Home, with Rev. Webster Eaker officiating. Burial was in Maple HillCemetery.
Mrs. Potter was born in Crossville, Dec. 19, 1891, the daughter of Peter and Jeanetta (West) Groff. She was married to Harry Potter in Grayville in 1912. He preceded her in death Mar. 5 1972. The Potters moved to the New Hope area after their marriage Mr. Potter farmed in that area.
Mrs. Potter was a housewife and homemaker during her marriage. She resided on their farm until she moved to the nursing home.
She was a member of the Fairfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the Hall Home Extension Unit.
Survivors include one son, Gerald Potter, of Fairfield; two granddaughters, Mrs. Bob (Becky) Puntney, of Fairfield; and Gerry Barnett, of Lake Charles, La.; three brothers, Fred and Dan Groff, both of Grayville; and Samuel Groff, of Lafayette, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Tina Strum, of Crossville; and three great-grandchildren.
