George Felix, 78, Dies

George F. Felix, 78, well-known Barnhill farmer and former member of the Skillet Fork Drainage Board, died at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Hospital.   Mr. Felix had been in declining health when he was admitted Aug. 6th.  Death was due to the in firmities of age, the family said.

Funeral services will be held at 1: 30 p.m. Friday at the Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. H. H, Mayberry officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery      Visitation for friends and family will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday (tonight ) at the funeral home.

He was born in Big Mound township of Wayne County June 22, 1904, the son of Ben K. and Carrie (Pykiet) Felix. He attended school in Wayne County.  Mr. Felix married the former  Ethel Medler in Sims Sept. 15, 1926.  Mr.  and Mrs.  Felix resided their entire married life on the family farm which had  belonged originally to Mr. Felix's grandfather. It was earlier known as the Old Forbes Place.      He was a member of the Wayne County Farm Bureau and served in past years as the treasurer for Half Township School District.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel, of Barnhill; three sons, Dale and Russell Felix, both of Barnhill: and Harold Felix, of Kentland, Ind; five daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Catherine) Dickey, of Flora; Mrs. William (Dorothy) Merrill, of Mesa Ariz.; Marjorie Harding, of Richton Park; Mrs Earl (Doris) Gregory, of Clinton Iowa; and Mrs. James (Betty) Vanek, of Frederic, Wisc.; one brother, Ralph Felix. of Lakeside, Ariz., one sister Mrs. Eldon (Elsie) Farris, of Fairfield; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
