J. W. "Bill" Holmes Dies In Florida
J. William (Bill) Holmes, 76, a well-known former Fairfield resident, died at 3 p.m. Saturday at a Lakeland, Fla., hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Holmes moved to Laketand 35 years ago where Mr. Holmes was employed in the real estate business.

He had been in the hospital a short time and had suffered a stroke a week ago.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10 a m. in Lakeland with interment in Lakeland Memorial Gardens. Mr. Holmes was born in Fairfield, the son of Otis and Bertha (Manlove) Holmes. He attended school here. For years he worked at Keen-Norris Wallpaper Store here. He was married to the former Pearl Daymond in Fairfield 56 years ago. Mr. Holmes was a member of the Edgewood Church of Christ in Lakeland.

Surviving are his widow, Pearl, of Lakeland; one son, Daymond Holmes, of Knoxville Md., two daughters, Mrs. Francis (Billie) Reid, of Tampa, Fla.; and Mrs. Grover (Barbara) Thompson, of Miami, Fla.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
