Etta F. Shreve, 80, Dies

Mrs. Etta F. Shreve, 80 formerly of Barnhill and a resident of the Way-Fair  Restorium, died expectedly at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the intensive care unit at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Shreve a one year resident at Way-Fair, collapsed at the nursing home and C.P.R techniques were used to revive her.  She was moved into the intensive  care unit of the hospital and perienced a second heart attack a few hours later, the Press was told. Death was due to an apparent heart attack and a blood clot, a family member said.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield with Rev. Dwight Rogers officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Shreve was born in Jefferson County April 23, 1901 the daughter of Stephen Oliver and Laura May (Helms) Daniels.

She married Carroll Shreve on Mar. 25, 1923, in Wayne County. He preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 1961.

The Shreves lived near Johnsonville for several years after their marriage and engaged in farming most of their married life.  They moved to Pontiac during  the depression and moved back to Wayne County after four years. The family lived  on the Peter Rapp farm near Fairfield for several years before moving to a farm east of Barnhill.

Survivors include one son, William C. Shreve, of Barnhill; four daughters, Mrs. Tommie (Nancy) Bayles, of Rinard; Mrs Carl (Leona) Weber, of Fairfield; Mrs. Marshall (Aline) Bullard, of Keenes; and Mrs. Clarence (Virginia) Short, of Fairfield; one sister, Mrs. Nettie Medder, of Quincy; one brother, J. W. Daniels, of Womack; 19 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, two sisters and three brothers.
