1941
Nancy Olive, daughter of Jane Vaughan, was born in Wayne County
near Fairfield, Ill. on February 24, 1869. On Monday evening October 13,
1941 about 8 o'clock the death Angel came and beckoned her to come to a
glorified home. A home not prepared by human hands, but by the all Knowing
Power. Although death had been expected by her loved ones who had faithfully
and patiently attended her so long, yet it was a shock which was difficult
to endure.
Nancy, or Aunt Nan as she was called by everyone, grew to womanhood
in this vicinity where she was highly esteemed and loved by all who knew
her. In her childhood she enjoyed going to Sunday School and church. She
was converted and joined the Pleasant Gove Baptist Church where she remained
faithful to the end. She lived a beautiful life which was like an open
book, easily and gratefully read. Many times during her last days she expressed
her deep assurance of the award which awaits those who do their master's
will
On December 11, 1890 she was united in marriage to James Sanders.
To this union eight children were born. Five sons and three daughters.
Three having preceded her in death and also her husband who passed away
November 14, 1941 (wrong date?). Those living are namely; Perry E.
of Pontiac, Ill.; Harry of Williams, Ia..; William of Forrest,
Ill.; Goldie Hilligoss of Anderson, Ind.; and Rosa Day of
Fairfield, Ill.; with whom she made her home.
She departed this life October 13, 1941 at the age of 73. She had one
sister Dollie Williams, who preceded her in death. Besides her children
she is survived by thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Also a number of other relatives and friends who will mourn her passing.
So farewell dear Mother,
Till the cares of life are past,
Till we cross deaths chilly waters
and are anchored
Safe at last.
