James A. Jiles, 55, of Plano, a brother-in-law of Mrs. Charles Crask, who writes the Anna Jean column for the Press, died unexpectedly a week ago Monday (today) in that city.
He suffered a heart attack while he was at work at the Plano Highway Maintenance Dept.
Memorial services were held last Tuesday night at Larsen's Funeral Home in Plano. Rev. William Brown officiated. His body was cremated and taken to Batavia.
Mr. Jiles was born in Jefferson County and later married Retha Wakefield, of north Keenes. They resided in Wayne County several years before moving to Northern Illinois.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the American Legion post in Plano. He also belonged to the Fox River Valley Coon Hunters Association.
Surviving are his widow, Retha; two sons, James and
Jerry; one daughter, Mrs. Lanna (Patricia) Coffin; two grandchildren;
three half-sisters, Mrs. Sophia Sauls and Mrs. Ruby Williams of
Eugene, Ore., and Mrs. Opal Hines, of Mt. Vernon; and nieces and
nephews.
