James Cunningham, 73, of 400 N.E. Fifth Street, died at 11 a.m. Thursday in Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, from an apparent heart attack. Mr. Cunningham was stricken while visiting his daughter, Mrs. Edward (Carolyn Sue) Middleton.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Neal Funeral Home in Louisville with burial in the Brooks Cemetery. Masonic services were conductedat 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Mr. Cunningham was born in Crawford County Aug. 5 1902, the son of Charles and Patsy (Griffith) Cunningham.
He was a retired pumper for Bell Brothers of Robinson and held membershipin the Winterrowd Masonic Lodge and Fairfield United Methodist Church.
Mr. Cunningham was married to the former Juanita Marsteiner, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Elwood, a daughter, Mrs. Middleton; three grandchildren; two brothers, Alvin and Frank; three sisters, Mrs.Mildred Richards, Mrs. Kate Bowman, and Mrs. Margaret Bowen. A daughter preceded him in death two months ago.
