Ira Dezouche, 86, one of Wayne City's most respected citizens and community leaders, died at Memorial Hospital at 12:50 p.m. Friday.
Mr. Dezouche, former Wayne City postmaster and fire chief, had been in good health until about two months ago when he began to fail, his family said.
At the time of his death, he was director of the Wayne County Civil Defense, a post which he had held since 1963.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday (today) at Richardson's Chapel in Wayne City with Bro. Ron Mullins officiating. Burial was in Thomason Cemetery.
Mr. Dezouche was born Nov. 15, 1889, in Wayne County, the son of Charles and Commelia (Gaston) Dezouche.
