James Ellsworth, of Company G. 40th, Reg, Illinois Volunteers, died on the 2d, August, at the residence of C. T. Lichtenberger. He contracted his disease while in the U. S. service. Mr. Ellsworth was a good citizen and a brave soldier. He was in his 50th year, and died away from his early home, and among strangers, except the few acqaintances he had formed and the friendships he had made during his short residence here.
