"We the jury sworn to inquire into the death of LESLIE PAUL
HODGES on oath do find he came to his death by eating rat poison accidentally."

Evidence at the Inquest of LESLIE PAUL HODGES:
Bertha HODGES; 21; Housewife; Fairfield:
"The lilttle boys came in from the smokehouse and I asked them if they
had been striking matches, they said no had been eating smoke. I
investigated and found a part of a tube of rat poison "paste"; I ran to
MRS. GILLISON'S and she came up and we gave them melted lard, milk and
coffe; he threw up- but gradually grew worse. They ate it about
9:30 a.m. and he died about 1 o'clock p.m."

"I have heard the testimony of the mother and agree with all she has
said and can add nothing to it."
