The following information came from the records of Union North Cumberland Presbyterian Church which gave me permission to post on this web site only. I want to thank the Session of 2003 for giving me the permission to do so. (K. Verdaine Hooper)

Minutes of Session

State of Illinois}
Wayne County}

January the 30th, 1874 by committee appointed to transfer the old book on to this book. We the committee proceeded to transcribe the organization of the church.

I do hereby certify that on the 23 day of October A.D. 1852 in accordance with an order from McLin Presbytery authorizing me to organize a church to be called Union Society, within the following bounds: viz. Little Wabash on the east; Pond Creek on the south; Shipleys Prairie on the west; and, the road leading from ( ? ) steam mill on the Little Wabash to Fairfield on the north, in accordance with the above named order. We met according to previous appointment on the day above named and proceeded to organize said society by electing Daniel Wingate clerk and George Meritt, Thomas Wilson, Andrew Neel, and Wiley Hooper as Elders for the society.

Given under my hand this 28th day of October 1852.
