TROTTER  CEMETERY

Growing up, I remember this cemetery was not a fun or nice one to visit.  Each spring the creeks flooed this land and the stones fell or got ruin from the water.

My father used to spend days poking the ground to hear the "cluck" to find a stone, dig it up, and set it in its spot.  Me?  I sat on a BIG red and gold stone, reading "willie Trotter", because of all the snakes!  They say the Blue Racers are afraid of people and rattlers striked only to protect themself.  I do not believe either of that!

I remember this Trotter cemetery as being larger than the Olive Branch Cemetery at one time.  Now you can count all the stones on your hands.  Some of the names I remember are Flint,  Flatt, Hall, Lane, Thomason, and lots of Trotters.

Last, 2002 (I think it was) a land development bought this area.  They filled the swamp in with gravel and set the cemetery up on it, out of the water.  All in all, I rmember the snakes and will not walk the gravel again .... unless there is 2 feet of snow!  ha!
